Before you start
- The lead has an email and a complete service address: street, city and postal code. A lead is kept with less than that, but the set-up refuses to run without all three.
- If the customer is billed somewhere else, the billing address is filled in completely too. A different billing address makes a second property; a blank or matching one does not.
Steps
1
Open the lead
In Leads, open the lead. Check the addresses one more time; they become the property records exactly as typed.
2
Convert it
Click Convert and confirm Zoho’s convert screen.
3
Wait a moment
Give it a minute, then open Contacts.
How you know it worked
- In Contacts there is one customer with the lead’s name. It shows a QuickBooks id, an Account Name, a Service Address and a Billing Address.
- In Accounts there is one account with the same name, linked to the customer and to the same addresses.
- In Properties there is one property per distinct address. Each shows a Latitude and Longitude, a picture of the house, and a Major Service Area.
- In QuickBooks there is one customer with that name.
If it did not work
- The customer is there but nothing else appeared after a few minutes. The service address is missing its street, city or postal code. The engine refused and recorded why. See Fix a customer that did not set up properly.
- Something appeared but not all of it. Same page.
Good to know
- Converting the same lead twice does nothing the second time. There is never a second account or a second QuickBooks customer for one lead.
- Two customers can each have a property at the same street. Within one account, the same street is one property: the engine reuses it rather than making a twin.
- The lead stays in Leads, marked converted. It is not moved or deleted.
- From here on, edit the customer, account and property, not the lead. Changes to the lead after conversion do not reach the customer records.
